Course Description

The aim of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills expected of a finance manager, in relation to investment, financing and dividend policy decisions. The course focuses on establishing the operating and technical foundation for financial decision-making for the firm. The students will learn the structure of the firm and financial market, the notion of time impact on money, the trade-off between risk and return, the approach to balance investments with capital funding, the cost of capital, the impact of firm’s financial policy on leverage and shareholders’ return, the management of the funds needed for operations, and the implications. The course will also provide students with knowledge of mergers & acquisitions as a form of business expansion and how to estimate a value for a business. Further, it will introduce students to forms of business reorganisation.
